What am I working on?

July 30, 2008 at 6:15 pm (Uncategorized)

I am working on getting my next set of bobby pins made.  I am making a new color and getting the pinwheel bows that are going along with them in the bundle ready to go.  I am soon going to get started on things for the christmas season.  I do need to get a few things ready for halloween!  I am still working on finding the right materials for making the Headbands….it has been hard lately to do too much I am with out a car:(  I hope my luck changes soon with that.
I am also working on my babies 1st b-day party…..so I must get to a fabric store A.S.A.P.  I am going to be making her tutu myself.

French Clip or Alligator Clip?

For those who don't know about differant types of clips

I have recently had a lot of questions about what an alligator clip is and what is the difference between that and a french clip. These clips are used in the making of hair bows and other accessories. I am going to try and help you understand the difference a little better so here goes.

Well, an alligator clip is just that, a clip that looks like an alligator and functions much like a cloths pin.  These types of clips work well for smaller size bows and adornments (they do come in multiple sizes the larger sizes are usually used by hair dressers to hold pieces of the hair back in sections while they are cutting or coloring).  They work well as an accent piece on older children who have their pulled up with a pony tail holder and then decorated with a clip.  They do not hold large amounts of hair but they also do not hold if there is not enough hair.  They work well in infants as long as they have enough hair to fasten the clip in without pulling.

French clips are a more traditional type of clip.  These come in alot of sizes and a bow looks cute on all of them.  These look more like a barrette and are made of metal.  Unlike the alligator clips that can only hold so much hair these can actually hold quit abit of hair and don’t need a rubber band to help them out.  These cannot be worn by infants or toddlers that do not have alot of hair at all so that is one down side to this type of clip the other that I have found and is only a personal experience and opinion….if this clip is not covered then it rubs on the hair and breaks it.

I hope this helps in some way give a better understanding of the clips they call alligator and french!

Hot Pink and Black Skull and Cross Bone Bobby Pins

I just got these put on my store site. They are Hot Pink and Black Skull and Cross Bone Bobby Pins.  They mesure about 1.5inches for the bow and the bobby pin itself is about 2 inches long.  They have little center button, which reminds me of the things that I used to wear as a kid. (I grew up in the late 80’s early 90’s — Is that vintage?  lol) I really like these and even thought about keeping them for myself but I would really like to share them with the world.  I have only this set made.  I can make more I just want these to go first before I do make more just to make sure that others feel the same way about them as I do.

Cherry Pin Wheel Bow

This is a cute little bow adorned with cherry detailed ribbon.  It is on a French clip and the bow itself messures about 4 inches across so it will make a Large statement.  This bow was made in the thoughts that it could be worn to school and other children friendly environments.  Even though the skull and cross bones might be okay for some folks others don’t like that symbolizim so I have made a few things that don’t have anything to do with them but do have something to do with out scene.  Rockabilly-ish type things are popping up all over the place and most of them have the cherry look or the sparow and stars.  I think that might be my next thing is to find the sparows!

A Favorite Listing

Pink skull and cross bone Clips

These are a favorite.  I get the most views for these on the site and I sell more of these to people at events and most of my friends have a set for themselves and thier girls!  One of the moms asked me if I could make a few for Birthday gift bags…..my anwser was I SURE CAN!  So if you need something for gift bags or stocking stuffers let me know I can give you a price quote on it and get started on them right away.

Christmas is creeping up kinda quick….

SO get a jump on your shopping and make sure you have everybody checked off your list.  Visit my site.  If you need anything custom made for an outfit or even if you want to get your niece, daughter, grand daughter or god daughter something for her first communion or event in her life let me know I will make sure it is the style and color that you need!  I can also change the clips to suit your needs.  DOn’t be afraid to ask.

Yey Bobby Pins

July 13, 2008 at 4:51 am (Uncategorized)

I just got my bobby pin posted on etsy. I love them they are so cute.  I can’t wait to make more.  I just need some input form folks.  What are you looking for?  I love skull and cross bones but I know that is not everyones cup of tea.  I have alot of ribbon but I gravitate toward my favorites.  If you happen to come accross this and you are looking for something to match an outfit or something let me know and I will try and get it made for you.

My next project is going to be headband for infants & toddlers.  I just found some plain elastic that I like.  I would really like some stretch lace but I can’t seem to find what I am looking for.  Craft stores do not carry it around here and I have yet to make it to a fabric store.  i found some online but I really don’t want to pay shipping at this moment.

I am also starting on Bow & Headband Holders.  They are really cute and help keep all your hear accessories together in one place.  Keep an eye out!

If you have any questions or comments feel free to ask or post.  I would love it!
